I primarily carve white pine.

Our sculptures are finished with marine varnish only, they should last for several years if it is properly cared for. We recommend setting the sculpture off the ground on stone, rock, concrete base, so that moisture drains away and does not soften the wood. Indoors, it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, thus preventing the contraction and expansion of wood.

Wood shrinks as it dries and at times cracks and splits called “checking” occur. The wood we used has been fully dried, but at times checking can occur thus adding character to your carving.

We finish carvings utilizing marine varnish to help prevent moisture from seeping into the wood. This sealer has special UV properties to help prevent sun damage.

Yes. It is not unusual to visit a home site in which owners have a tree that needed to be removed. The remaining stump may have sentimental value, or they may want to explore a different way to resolve the stump than grinding it out of the land.
We discuss the sculpture that they want to be carved and then quote a price. Price is determined by different factors. Such as: size, detail of the piece, amount of negative space, and whether we have to use scaffolding.
After the quote is accepted, we set up an appointment to carve the piece if still in the ground.
